A brightly coloured 1943 Picasso portrait of his muse and associate Dora Maar, titled Bust of a Girl with a Flowered Hat (Dora Maar), is ready to be auctioned in Paris on Friday after greater than 80 years out of public view. Painted as their seven-year relationship was nearing its finish, the work captures Maar in a vivid floral hat. It was purchased in 1944 and has remained in the identical household assortment ever since. Siobhan Silke experiences.
