Issued in the course of the top of the Civil Struggle, the Emancipation Proclamation signaled a transformative shift within the Union’s objectives. Not only a combat to protect the nation, the struggle grew to become an ethical campaign to finish slavery. Whereas the proclamation initially freed enslaved people solely in Accomplice states, it set the tone for nationwide abolition and gave enslaved African Individuals hope for a greater future.
