The deadly beating of a 23-year-old man in Lyon has shocked France and ignited a fierce political row. The sufferer, recognized solely as Quentin, died in hospital after being attacked on 12 February on the sidelines of clashes close to a political occasion at Sciences Po Lyon attended by a left-wing politician. Prosecutors say he was assaulted throughout confrontations between rival activists and later succumbed to a traumatic mind harm, prompting a homicide inquiry by French police.
