It got here as a thundering shock. Wellsbourne GP observe in Whitehawk, East Brighton, has simply been informed it’s shedding its contract. NHS Sussex, the native built-in care board (ICB), is provisionally handing it over to a distant Leeds-based firm whose major enterprise is in proudly owning and managing healthcare properties. This can be a story about how components of the NHS can slip away to profit-makers, regardless of the federal government’s purpose to place group first. The corporate, One Medical Group, received the bid by undercutting on value and proposing so as to add a walk-in centre. It’s not a lone case: another ICBs erroneously put good NHS group providers out for tender, and really feel obliged to take the bottom bid.
