[ad_1] WILLMAR — The Willmar women tennis staff gained its first match of the season on Aug. 28, beating the Sartell Sabres 4-3.

Who had the perfect sportsmanship on the state beginner baseball event the previous three weekends? It is debatable, however Regal and Raymond have been honored by the Minnesota Baseball Affiliation on the event's conclusion.

Raymond gained the J.M. and J.D. Brennan Sportsmanship Ward for Class B. Regal was the Class C recipient.

The Fred Roufs MVP award for Class B went to Jackson Hunter. Hunter, a draftee from the Watertown Indians, pitched the Delano A's to the state Class B championship. He went 3-0 within the event with a 1.13 earned-run common in 24 innings, placing out 18 and permitting three earned runs.

The Mike Davison Most Excellent Pitcher Award when to Blaine Hardy of the Nisswa Lightning. The 38-year-old left-hander, a former member of the Detroit Tigers, went 2-0 with an 0.82 ERA for the runner-up Lightning. He struck out 27 in 22 innings, permitting two earned runs.

The MaxBat Maple Slugger Award went to Brady Schafer of the Chilly Spring Springers.
