FRANCE 24 spoke to Elliott Abrams, a senior fellow for Center Japanese Research on the Council on International Relations in Washington. Abrams, who served as Particular Consultant for Iran from 2020 to 2021 within the first Trump administration, mentioned the continued talks between US and Iranian officers about Iran’s nuclear programme – the primary of their form in years. The conferences “ought to be no shock”, he stated: US President Donald Trump “definitely does not wish to go to battle” [with Iran].
