President Donald Trump has appointed Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry the USA Particular Envoy to Greenland in a transfer that displays his continued concentrate on the island’s strategic significance to United States nationwide safety.
President Trump made the appointment official through a Fact Social publish, stating:
“I’m happy to announce that I’m appointing the GREAT Governor of Louisiana, Jeff Landry, as the USA Particular Envoy to Greenland. Jeff understands how important Greenland is to our Nationwide Safety, and can strongly advance our Nation’s Pursuits for the Security, Safety, and Survival of our Allies, and certainly, the World. Congratulations Jeff!”
Shortly after the president’s announcement, Governor Landry acknowledged the appointment on X, writing:
“Thanks @realDonaldTrump! It’s an honor to serve you on this volunteer place to make Greenland part of the U.S. This on no account impacts my place as Governor of Louisiana!”
The choice follows a collection of escalating diplomatic and strategic efforts from the Trump administration to carry Greenland below American jurisdiction—an initiative Trump has described as “an absolute necessity” for nationwide safety and freedom.
Trump’s curiosity in Greenland dates again to his first time period, when he proposed buying the island from Denmark, citing its strategic significance to the USA. The proposal was swiftly rejected by Danish officers, main Trump to cancel a deliberate state go to to Denmark. In response, Trump posted a digitally altered picture of a Trump Tower on Greenland’s panorama joking, “I promise not to do that to Greenland!”
