US jury finds French financial institution BNP Paribas responsible for complicity in Sudan atrocities

A New York jury on Friday discovered that French banking large BNP Paribas’ work in Sudan helped to prop up the regime of former ruler Omar al-Bashir, making it responsible for atrocities that befell beneath the regime. The eight-member jury sided with three plaintiffs initially from Sudan, awarding a complete of $20.75 million in damages, after listening to testimony describing horrors dedicated by Sudanese troopers and the Janjaweed militia.
