Utah man arrested after allegedly attempting to run Tesla driver off the highway: report

[ad_1] A high-speed freeway confrontation in Utah has landed a 27-year-old man in jail after he allegedly tried to run a Tesla off the highway in what police described as a deliberate and harmful act of highway rage.

Oscar Fayani was arrested Friday morning after Utah Freeway Patrol troopers say he deliberately hit a Tesla whereas driving at speeds over 100 mph on Interstate 80, in accordance with an affidavit obtained by KSL.com .

Troopers were alerted simply after 10 a.m., when a number of 911 callers reported a gold sedan driving recklessly and "highway raging" with a black Tesla.

Witnesses mentioned the sedan was weaving via lanes, tailgating, blocking autos from passing, and pushing speeds as much as 120 mph.

In keeping with the affidavit, one driver advised officers he needed to speed up to 95 mph simply to get away. The Tesla driver advised troopers that the gold sedan rammed his automobile "on function" and adopted him even after he exited the freeway to flee.

When he received again on I-80 minutes later, the Tesla driver mentioned the sedan was ready and tried to push him off the highway once more.

Troopers situated and stopped the suspect's car close to the Nice Saltair. In keeping with the affidavit, Fayani was discovered to be driving on a revoked license and had two energetic out-of-area warrants.

Troopers searched the automobile and reportedly discovered drug paraphernalia, a marijuana curler, and two small baggies with a white powder that later examined optimistic for cocaine.

Although authorities haven’t mentioned whether or not it was a focused assault, the incident comes throughout a broader development of vandalism and hostility directed at Tesla house owners and CEO Elon Musk’s firm.

Tesla drivers have reported being harassed or blocked at charging stations by gas-powered autos in incidents often known as "ICEing." Others have captured acts of vandalism — keying, window smashing, and slashed tires — utilizing the vehicles’ built-in Sentry Mode cameras.

Tesla dealerships have skilled a surge in vandalism incidents throughout the U.S.
