A 25-year-old man has been arrested in reference to the demise of a Loyola University Chicago scholar shot close to campus Thursday by a masked gunman, the Chicago Tribune reported .

The Tribune stated it had obtained the arrest report and was not naming the suspect, who sources inform Fox Information is a migrant from Venezuela .

Sheridan Gorman, 18, of Westchester County, New York, was gunned down while taking a stroll with mates shortly after 1:30 a.m. Thursday alongside Chicago's lakefront.

The gunman allegedly approached the group, pulled out a gun, and opened fire — hanging Gorman within the head, based on the Chicago Police Division. She was pronounced lifeless on the scene.

No different accidents had been reported, according to police .

Information obtained by the Tribune state the suspect was recognized minutes after the capturing because of his "distinct limp."

Police haven't but confirmed if the person has been charged in relation to the Gorman investigation.

In a letter despatched to college students Thursday, Loyola College Chicago President Mark C. Reed confirmed Gorman’s demise whereas addressing the campus neighborhood.

"It's with profound disappointment that I write to share that certainly one of our college students, Sheridan Gorman, was killed earlier right now," Reed stated. "It is a tragic loss, and our hearts exit to Sheridan’s household, family members, and all who knew her."
