Aid at a ceasefire starting in Lebanon on Friday was tempered by the destruction that many encountered upon returning to their properties.

Within the southern village of Jibsheet, a trickle of residents returned to flattened condo blocks and streets affected by chunks of concrete, twisted aluminum shutters and dangling electrical wires.

“I be happy being again,” 23-year-old Zainab Fahas mentioned. “However look they destroyed every part: the sq., the homes, the outlets, every part.”
