Brazil’s Congress has voted to cut back the 27-year jail sentence of former President Jair Bolsonaro, although the extremely controversial choice is anticipated to be appealed. Bolsonaro was convicted of plotting a coup after dropping the 2022 presidential election, and the transfer to shorten his sentence is broadly seen as a setback for present President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, as reported by Liza Kaminov.
